Danielle started dancing in 1987 at the age of 4, taking
lessons in jazz and twirling the baton. That quickly progressed into
cheerleading, which was a serious hobby until she discovered her love
of gymnastics when she was 8. Daniella continued to cheer when she had
time off from her rigorous schedule of gymnastics practices and competitions.
At the age of 11, Daniella decided that gymnastics wasn’t
her calling and became an assistant coach of an even younger girls’
cheerleading squad. She was the main choreographer of most of their
squad dances. She worked with them for two football seasons, before
her high school studies took up too much of her time to help with the
squad anymore.
Danielle discovered belly dance in 2001 at the age of
18. She was looking for a great way to stay in shape that would also
be easy on the body. Belly dance turned out to be the perfect thing.
An online search of teachers in the area led Danielle to Daria, and
she has been a member of Daria’s troupe, Mystic Mirage, ever since.
Danielle’s style is cabaret -- mostly Turkish fused
with Egyptian and modern dance. She often dances with canes, veil, or
zills, and occasionally with fans or a sword.
